Project Overview:
The Science Center of Iowa had one of their popular exhibits going under a renovation. To tease the upcoming unveiling of the refreshed ‘When Things Get Moving Exhibit’, they partnered with our team to design a wall mural and an accompanying interactive mobile experience.

Physics based web experience

Form and Color Exploration Given the brand language of the renovated exhibit space and the themes of movement and hands-on learning, the design intent was to explore primitive forms and the various ways they could interact with each other. Color was also explored as a means of creating contrast and depth.

Final Mural and Web Experience The forms in the final mural design were used as interactive elements in the accompanying web experience. Following the theme of science and movement, the web experience allows users to spawn these forms by tapping. They can then toss, swipe, and rotate the forms, watching them interact with each other. The web experience was built using Matter.js, a 2D web physics engine.
